David Mack in New York Comic Con Artist Alley |
|
According to David Mack, his table at the New York Comic Con (February 23-25, 2007) will be located in artist alley. "I'll be there every day with lots of new prints, original art, Kabuki collections and new issues and will be happy to sign for you," he added. |
Material in Kabuki: Reflections #8 |
|
After Taki Soma suggested that Mr. Mack release a finger paint book or one with paintings that use "ketchup or dirt or grass stains with coffee to produce color," David Mack revealed: |
|
In that case, check out the next Reflections, #8. Besides some traditional stuff, it also includes finger paint and childhood drawings and some food and organic material as art.
For instance, I am finally revealing a peak at my Chicken art. When Andy Lee lived at my home he prepared chicken the old fashioned Chinese style (the way Kabuki does as a child in Circle of Blood).
Not wanting things to go to waste, I used some of the leftovers like feet and organs, etc. to make art.
I have quite a photo collection of it, but have never revealed it as it may rub some people the wrong way.
But it is just another application of my turning garbage into something of beauty and value.
So you ask for it... you get it, Taki Soma! |
Ms. Marvel Behind-the-Scenes |
|
From David Mack: |
|
Nice to give the editor some props! He is a smart guy. Andy Schmidt (or Schmidty as we affectionately call him)! I first worked with him when he was editing Alias, which I did all the covers too.
And at one point he had asked me to write the series, but when I heard Brian Reed was interested in writing it, I said that he was way more appropriate to it and Brian is a swell guy! So props to Reed and the editor.
Glad you liked the covers. Check out davidmackguide.com to find about more of my work. |
