Warren Ellis Praises Mack and Kabuki
From Lazy_Metaphors:
Weird as it is, for some reason I figured he wasn't reading, yet in today's Bad Signal [from Warren Ellis]: "Because, yeah, Brubaker and Phillips are producing super-accessible literary-mainstream fiction, but the boy Mack is still shooting off vivid conceptual fireworks every time he does a Kabuki. So there's a broad spectrum available there, and that kind of makes me want to be a bit experimental..."

Talking to People in Portland Bookstores
David Mack on "Contrived Junenelia" and "Ego-ism/Ego-tism":
In Portland, two different sales ladies at two different bookstores began conversations with me about these different topics.

The first one informed me that she "coined the term 'contrived juvenilia'" for a style of art.

The second one referenced Ayn Rand.

It was a real hoot and "contrived fill-in-the-blank" became our buzz phrase for the week.

I really like Portland. I seem to attract a certain kind of "literary-talk" from people there :)
