The Japanese ghost is much different from its Western counterpart. With the exception of the occasional historical figure, Japanese ghosts are mainly female.

Kabuki: The Alchemy #5 Format
From David Mack:
Kabuki #5 should be out in a couple weeks!

I think you will get a big kick out of this issue. I had a mock-up of it that I took to the Boston con a couple weeks ago to show anyone who wanted to see it.

Terry Drosdak from this board was there and got a big kick out of the cover.

It is a kind of cover that you can cut up and fold into a different shape. Actually, much of this issue is that way. I tried to create the story in a way that it works in 2D and 3D at the same time!

Since that is what much of the story is about!

You'll see. It is an approach in storytelling and panel layout that I have never done before. And I've never seen a book like the approach in this issue.

For those of you who like to cut things up and refold them into 2D shapes, you'll get an extra kick out of this one.

Also, several posters from this board have letters in the issue. Terry Drosdack, SmokingHawk (Matt) and more.

And I've collaged into this issue many things readers have sent to me.

I'm very curious when you will react to this issue.

MTV Project Details
When asked about the MTV project that he mentioned a couple of weeks ago, David Mack explained:
[B]asically, they asked me to some paintings for them (I think about 2 dozen) that they are animating into a presentation for the MTV projects at the MIPCOM show at Caan in France this October.

I did a lot of paintings of some of the celebrities for their reality shows that they are animating together. It was a fun change of pace to do after I finished Kabuki #5. I had to paint the backgrounds separate from the foregrounds so they move from each other.

Kabuki: Circle of Blood Review
Xanderharris posted a review of Kabuki - Vol. 1: Circle of Blood in the form of a poem.

Andy Lee Art Book Poll
From David Mack:
I thought this was an excellent idea. An Andy Lee art book collecting his drawings and paintings would be great.

I know there are some fans of his on this board. Would you pick up an art book of Andy Lee?

I think it is a great idea. Andy Lee is huge at conventions, and I'd like to see him get a wider recognition.

For those unfamiliar with his work, I think his site is findandy.com.
