Kabuki on Zap2It.com's Top 5 Indie Collection List
In an article at Zap2It.com, Jessica Paff included Kabuki as one of her top five collected independent comic book series and noted:
[David Mack's] first books began with a cost effective and pared down black and white style. But be prepared for a format that grows and eventually breaks the boundaries of what most people believe about the average comic book, as David tells his stories using every form of 2D media available to him and mixes in a generous helping of philosophy, introspection, dreams, memories and delirious recollections. But, if you want to jump into the thick of things, my favorite volume is Kabuki: Metamorphosis.

Drawing Inspiration from Fight Club Film
From David Mack:
Got to say I love this movie.

When it came out, I saw it two nights in a row at the theater, which is something I've never done before. My favorite Fincher film, too, but I just related to it on a very personal level and connected with it. For that personal connection reason, I think it is one of my all-time favorite films.

For me, a major theme of the film was that you need to get started right now doing something. That thing you dreamed of. I like when he is with those 2 guys in his car and drives the wrong way and then asks them what they have not done in life that they wanted to - "Build a house", "Paint a self-portrait" - which I interpreted as metaphors for building the life they wanted to do. But they had not started it yet. So you put someone in a do or die situation and show them the timeline for life is shorter, and they need to do that thing right now - à la Raymond K. K. Hessel, the veterinarian.

This is an uber-motivational/inspriational film for me. Right after seeing it, I immediately started making stuff.
