Re: Hey David...???

I'm not much of a mb poster, for any site, so I understand
completely if you have no clue as to who I am...
I first came here to tell you how profound and moving I found your
Echo story in Daredevil to be.
I'd like your permission to use some of your text in a piece of art
work I'm doing for an art college project.
It's the "Two Dogs Fighting" soliloquy as told by Wolverine in #55,
up to the part where he says, or rather you say, "the one that I feed the
most."
I've never done any mixed media before and the project is to produce
a mm piece that involves my own image.
I'm using painted photocopies of myself as a young child, and I
really want to have your text in word balloons working down the image until
it gets to a watercolour and ink portrait of myself as an adult. I'll put
it in word for word, although I'd like to change the "Chief" and "Guy"
parts to "MACK!" (I think it would make more sense to the reader)
Now I understand if you're thinking "Hold on, I don't put my heart
and soul into my art, working my butt of, just for some nodoby to steal
it", but I'm not doing this for any commercial gain, so you can have the
finished piece when I've done it, to do with it what you want.
I'm also using some lyrics from the musician David Sylvian (davidsylvian.net)
"The Boy with the Gun" "The Other Side of Life" and the chorus from "Wave"
yours with thanks in advance

Hey thanks for mentioning it.
I'm glad you like the work enough for it to inspire you.
Sounds like a great idea.
Please feel welcome to use those words in your art as you will and
do with it as you will.
That story about the dogs is my interpretation of an actual Native American
story. As much of that Echo story is of other Native America stories, and the structure of it is the structure of the many legenard vision quest stories.

Writers Market..
TUE, 11/30/04, 1:51 a.m. - In Response To: David Mack in Artist and
Graphic Designer's Market (Christopher Moonlight)
Interesting thing for anyone who picks of the annual Artist
and Graphic Designer's Market. The new 2005 addition has a spotlight on
David Mack, along with some other comic creators. It's also a handy little
book if you're trying to get work as an artist.
Glad you saw this.
The new Writers market has an interview with me in it too.
The one with the interview with Margrite Atwood.

Andy,
Thanks for showing my work to others.
I'm very glad to hear that you got something helpful from my stories!
That means everything.
Kindest regards,
David
David,
I wish the past three years at the shrink had even the smallest shred
of meaning that the words "the part of you that thrives is the part you
feed the most" contain... I would have booted the shrink out sooner, it
could have saved a lot more than time.
I showed an old clipping in my scrap book, "Kabuki's Mind" from Wizard, to another student as he didn't know what to do with his piece... he'd finished it in about 30 mins... and I can't get my copies of DD:Echo back
of the teacher
thanks for the ok.
