Re: Volume 3 Masks of the Noh Hardcover?
WED, 9/3/03, 7:20 p.m. - In Response To: Volume 3 Masks of the Noh Hardcover? (geemarcus)

Hi GM.
Thanks for reading my work! And for seeking it out. I know that all the volumes are indeed in stock and available to order through the distributor. If there is some glitch at the moment, you are welcome to order from Anh Tran for quick service. Just e-mail her at . She'll throw in some free goodies as well and you can get it with a signature if you drop a reminder.

As for order, I think it would be fine to go ahead and read volumes 4 and 5. But don't read vol 6 until you have read everything else. Vol 5 "Metamorphosis" is my favorite.
Please let me know what you think of the books!

Kindest regards,
David Mack

Hi folks,

I read Circle of Blood a couple of months ago, and was so blown away I immediately ordered 2-6 in hardcover from my shop, perpetualcomics.com, through the diamond system. Well, yesterday I got 2,4,5 & 6, but #3 was cancelled. In this month's order form they've still got it listed. So I'm wondering if I should order it again or try to find it somewhere else (or just get the paperback, since I've checked eBay and talesofwonder.com and come up dry). Does anybody know if the HC is or will again be available from the publisher?

On a side note, I can't wait to start reading these, but generally hate to read stuff out of order. Will reading 4-6 without having read 3 be a terrible thing?

Thanks,
GM

Re: DAVID AT TORONTO CANADA
THU, 9/4/03, 7:30 a.m. - In Response To: DAVID AT TORONTO CANADA (Jill Castillo)

Hi Jill!

Thanks for the kind words! I had a great time visiting in Toronto.
The convention was a lot of fun. And the city too. It was great to meet my Toronto readers!

I hope to visit again soon.
Warmest regards,
David

I met David Mack at the Toronto Sci-Fi/Comic Book Convention this August 2003 for the first time. I was the asian girl with the white boyfriend, (god knows if that makes any difference)...alright and I guess completely irrelevant.. ANYHOO- I was soooo excited because DAVID is like my favourite (and I mean FAVOURITE, so move over Dali). My most recent art projects have been greatly influenced by David's incredibly creative art. My praises for his talent are completely beyond words here. And of course, when i met him, I'm off hiding behind my boyfriend because I was wwayy to damn shy to say anything to him. DAVID YOU'RE MY HERO BABY!!! Oh and you're as cute as I had imagined and tallllll as hell. LOL. Anyway, David keep up the amazing work and I'm looking forward to you're future projects.
Ps. If anyone is interested in seeing any of my "MACK-influenced" art, please email me and i'd be very happy to send them. (lapins7@hotmail.com)

bugs and fishes...(hugs and kisses)

THU, 9/4/03, 7:35 a.m. - In Response To: Where can I buy Echo & DD prints by David Mack (guy)

Thanks for reading my work. Just order from Anh at the above e-mail address. She can send you just about anything you need from books to prints. Signed too.
Kindest regards,
David

Hi, I'm a huge fan of David Mack and that's just based on Parts of a Hole, Wake Up, and the advanced pics I've seen of DD#51. I haven't read Kabuki yet but I did buy Circle of Blood. Anyway, I see lots of Kabuki prints available here, which I like. But I really really want prints from his DD stuff. I found a couple of great ones on eBay but I got into a bidding war and ended up paying a lot for a couple. Anyway if anyone's got a link to a site, please post here or email me directly.
thanks!

Let me know what you think of it.

I write and paint it. It is the first of a five issue Echo story.

KABUKI: The Alchemy ad in DD #51...
THU, 9/4/03, 6:08 p.m. - In Response To: PHENOMENAL! Absolutely brilliant comic David! (dEnny)

Hi Denny,
I'm glad you noticed the Kabuki ad! I forgot to mention this to people. I owe this to Jeff Amano who hired me to do paint the five covers to RUULE.

If I remember correctly, I think the Kabuki ad is in every single Marvel comic shipping in September.

The story and reading experience blend perfectly together! Like Echo you FEEL the colors, you get immersed into the artwork and feel every nuance, every emotion, I like that you don't "hear" what's going on; this is a comic where you want to touch the actual artwork (I think that would add a whole new level to the reading experience).

Reading a David Mack book brings about a new level of the comic reading experience, your heart pounds, your eyes are amazed, your mouth waters, you want to go INTO the comic and it's funny because you do in a sense.

Just brilliant.

And the ad for KABUKI: Alchemy was quite exciting. I will wait in eager anticipation.

dEnny

I saw Guernica in person too!
THU, 9/4/03, 6:10 p.m. - In Response To: #51 = A true art collection! (Clayton Blind Love)

It is at The Prado in Madrid:) Thanks for your insightful responses. I'm glad the book was a catalyst for you and your wife to discuss art.
DM

A lot of Picasso, eh? Take it you are a big fan of his work. The "Guernica" is brilliant and your spin on it (the Daredevil-themed symbolism) was wonderful. My wife and I actually saw this piece in person. I believe this was at the El Prado in Madrid at the time (I can't say for sure, but it was in Madrid). They had a guard with a machine gun standing beside it. I'll never forget that.

The Van Gogh piece is very hypnotic of course with "The Starry Night" background and the creepy blue/green skin color. Very well done. Probably my second favorite piece in this issue.

I am not a big Matisse fan, but I do have to admit that the "Madame Matisse" piece is nice. What is with the green stripe/line running down her face? I never understood that.

My favorite artist is Goya. He painted some really dark and disturbing stuff. I would of loved to of seen your take on a Daredevil-themed Goya.

I was completely blown away by this issue. How you had Maya searching for herself through these artists' works was perfect. My non-comicbook reading wife was very impressed as well. We pulled out our art museum book and chatted late into the night about our favorites.

I can't wait for the next one! Now that Maya is heading back to Hell's Kitchen, any chance that Milla will come to life in your brilliant visuals?

C.
