Re: David I gotta bug you about a solicit in previews
TUE, 3/4/03, 1:27 p.m. - In Response To: David I gotta bug you about
a solicit in previews. (Daut Berisha)
in the comic calvalade section it lists Kabuki Gallery and
Kabuki Color special with new virgin covers signed and numbered by you i was wondering if these are covers that are entirely new or older covers that are being reoffered by comic calvalade. sorry to bug you about this man but i just wanted to make sure it wasn't a cover that i already own.
thank you for your help,
-Daut
Hi Daut,
These are books and covers that were offered and released back in 1995.
Comics Calvalcade must have found some extras in their warehouse and decided
to offer them again.

Re: Ryan Graff
TUE, 3/4/03, 1:31 p.m. - In Response To: Little known fact... (~Adam)
That site is done by that cool Ryan Graff guy who did some
design and illustration for Kabuki stuff, (scarab 8 cover, and the cover
of the ill fated Scarab artbook.)
That's right. Ryan did the cover for Scarab #8 and designed the Scarab
logo and many of the other Noh logos that you see on the masks and busts for each of the individual Noh. I especially like the Siamese logo.
And just so you know, don't count the Scarab artbook as illfated, it is still planned to be released. In a larger artbook format.

david-
i want to thank you for the drawing that you made for me at megacon
last weekend. the elektra ink. i had noticed the kabuki covers before, but i had never realized the full beauty and power of your work until i watched your brushwork in person. i absolutely love the drawing. if there
is any way i could acquire more of your work, please let me know. you are
an inspiration. many thanks.
-james
Hi James,
Thank you.
I was glad to see that you liked the brush sketch so much.
As far as acquiring more work, I don't have the time to do sketches
outside of the convention, but if you are looking for original pages from
any of my Kabuki or DD works, you can e-mail Anh at and let her know which ones you are looking for.
If you haven't read my Kabuki work, I hope that you will give it a try and let me know what you think. Metamorphosis is my favorite collection and probably represents my most evolved work as a writer and artist.
Please let me know what you think.
Kindest regards,
David

Hi David,
Just wanted to say Thanks again to you and Anh. The dragon sketch
you did for me was great. I love it. Thanks for the autographs as well.
You and Anh are truly two of the most genuine & nicest people I have
ever met. Also I loved looking through the pages of your original work.
the published comic page doesn't do them justice. That is always my favorite
part of the con (besides watching you and Andy Lee sketch). Speaking of
Andy Lee, that guy rocks! I don't think I saw him for more than 30 seconds
without a paintbrush in hiw hands. I love the bonzai tree sketch I got
from him. Really looking forward to the Kai project you guys are working
on. Should be very interesting stuff.
Well thanks again, you guys are the best and I look forward to stopping
by your booth next year.
Mike B.
Thanks Mike!
It was good to see you again.
Yeah, Andy Lee is an amazing creature. It seemed like he had the biggest
crowd at the entire convention. I'm glad to hear you are looking forward
to our future Kai project.
Hope to see you next year.
David
