Mike,
Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm glad that you
get so much from the books. When people get it like this, that is what
makes it all worth it for me.
Thanks for reading my books.
David
: Season greetings to Mr. Mack and the rest of the board,
: This is my first post so it might be a tad long winded
: and for
that I apologize in advance. First of all I
: would like to say simply
thank you David. Thank you
: for creating the greatest comic book
series and
: characters that I have ever read. Your work is
:
incredible, and that's an understatement. Thanks for
: providing me
with hours upon hours of intense,
: exciting, and thought provoking
entertainment. The
: talent you possess is extraordinary. To both
write,
: paint, and layout the pages the way you do is pure
:
genius. There is so much depth to each story that
: reading them a
third or fourth time is as enjoyable if
: not more enjoyable than the
first time.
: I first got into your work about 2 years ago. I had been
: out of
the comics loop for several years. I had moved
: to Orlando from
Boston and had pretty mush given up on
: comics all together. My Dad
had my whole collection up
: north and was moving to another house. I
had been
: reminiscing with my roommate about my younger years
:
and asked if he could ship down all my comics and
: sports
memorabilia. He said he would do so right after
: the big move. Well
as luck would have it the movers
: stole all of my comics and baseball
cards which had
: been stored in boxes clearly labeled. Any way to
make
: a long story longer we settled out of court and I got
: a
fairly nice settlement.
: So trying to recapture the nostalgia of my youth I headed
: to
the closest comic book store to try to replenish
: some of my favorite
long lost titles. While scanning
: the shelves I came across Kabuki
Circle of Blood.
: After just 5 minutes of scanning it I bought the
few
: issues they had and headed home.
: I read Circle of Blood #3 and that was it. I was
: hopelessly
hooked. I closed it and immediately began
: my quest to fill out the
rest of the run. I went from
: comic book shop to comic book shop over
the next few
: weeks slowly building the collection before I could
: sit down and read it complete and undisturbed.
: One of the things that blew me away the most was your
: letters
column Tear Drops. There before my eyes where
: hundreds of people who
were as passionate about your
: work as I was. Practically everyone of
those letters
: expressed exactly how I felt. It was amazing.
: Well this is beginning to drag on a bit too long now.
: Anyone
still reading at this point props to you. So in
: conclusion thanks
again David. Your work is phenomenal
: and brings me much happiness,
enjoyment and
: inspiration. Oh yeah and also thanks for turning me
: into an addict for Kabuki and everything Kabuki
: related. I've
bought almost everything I can get my
: hands on from the masks (just
got my Tigerlily one
: yesterday in the mail) to the jumbo German
portfolio.
: Waiting for the Scarab issues to come out regularly
:
was a real test in patience. I couldn't imagine having
: to wait for
all of your earlier work. Also thanks for
: making yourself and your
work so accessible. I've
: bought a few things from you and Anh
directly on
: e-bay.
: Well I have several questions I really want to ask but I
: will
save those for a later and shorter post. Looking
: forward to meeting
you at the Megacon here in Orlando.
: Warmest regards,
: Mike B
