Re: where's David Mack ???
Jan 13, 2005 2:00 am
Hello everyone!
Thanks for the warm wishes!
I appreciate everyone's kind concern and consideration.
I'm fine. I've been out of town for quite some time visiting with friends
over the holidays.
I took my work with me and have been working on Kabuki the entire time
as well. So between the immersion into my work, and enjoying the time with
my close friends I haven't been on line. (you can see some photos of my
friends and I on davidmack.net from around Christmas time).
As I mentioned before, I've been going thru some personal transitions,
and doing my best to deal with the circumstances. I appreciate all your
kind regards about it, and want to thank you for that, and also want to
let you know that everything is very positive and friendly. Nothing for
you to worry about, just things that I'm having to adjust to.
All your kind thoughts have been appreciated!
Now that I'm back home, I'll try to check on here a bit more regularly
and respond to some of the posts that I missed.
I hope you liked Kabuki #3.
And that you had a great holidays yourself!
Happy New Year,
David

Thanks for starting this thread, Who Cares, and thanks to all who contributed
to it!
With questions and answers.
I'm touched. I appreciate you introducing the book to others.
Kindest regards!
David

Kabuki #3 sold me on the fact that David Mack needs to write children's
books. Maybe not even a lot. But he's so damn good at it... I'd buy all
the little books he references and writes up in the comics if he published
them...
And so far I love The Alchemy. It's fab. ^.^
I'm really exhausted so forgive me if this post is a little weird
or anything...
Thanks!
I'm really glad you liked it!
If a lot of people would like to buy an actual Children's book format
of "The Shy Creatures", I'll publishe the full story at full size.

I appreciate your thoughts on this for the issue!
It is good to see everyone's feedback on this.

I like the sound of that!

Yeah,
I've been using her as reference for Kabuki in the drawings and actual
photos of her for the last few years. In Metamorphosis and Alchemy. And
even some photos of her in the second two stories in Dreams.

Jan 13, 2005 2:45 am
Thanks.
I think you will really like issue 4.
And if there is enough demand for an actual SHY CREATURES book in full
size children's book format, I'll make one and publish it. Probably through
ICON.
Would people pick it up?

Hopefully you can still find it.
And just so everyone knows: Kabuki: The ALchemy 1-3 can still be re-ordered if stores have sold out.

Sure, just PM me.
And maybe I'll see you in Long Beach?

Re: Beckett Comics Discussion: How do
they have such CHEAP..
Jan 13, 2005 3:43 am
I'm glad to see a thread about this.
Jeff Amano is doing a great job at starting the Comic book wing of Beckett
Publishing.
I think he just got nominated for 2 awards for Fade from Grace and Ballad
of sleeping Beauty.
They are really trying to put out such reader and retailer friendly
books with an accessable price and an easy accessable starting place. Really
good people too.
I hope you will give them a chance.
I did the new cover for the tpb of the first RUULE series.
I've noticed that both Ruule series are retelling of Bible stories and
deal a lot with theology under the surface of the story.

I recieved your letter about Kabuki #3!
Or rather, it was waiting for me when I returned.
Thanks so much. You will likely see in in the collumn of Kabuki #4
or #5.
Well, it was a working vacation. So it was fantastic!
I really had a great time with my pals. Mostly I was in Atlanta with
Ean and Andy Lee, and Larry Woolum (my friend since 3rd grade).

Hi Em!
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hi!
Sorry about that, there was so much stuff going on that I totally forgot
about that.
Andy is a big club guy. I'm sure he'd love that.
We were at MJQ for a bit, but the smoke got to me so much that I had
to leave after just a little bit.
And he and his band were recording thier CD at the studio much of the
time while they had access at the studio on five points.
Besides working on Kabuki, I did get a lot of excercise.
We climbed Stone Mountain. And also climed to the tip of Trey Mountain
in Helen.
Spent some time excercising at the park.
And Ean is a Kung Fu instructor so Andy and I attended his Kung Fu
classes as well.

Jan 13, 2005 4:26 am
Thanks for the regards.
And please forgive my ambiguity
But nothing to be sad or worried about. Though I appreciate the consideration.
I'm sure everything will work out positively.
Just some unexpected changes.
Re: where's David Mack ???

I've never seen the show or laser thing. Andy and I just climb to the
top of stone mountain for excercise, fun, conversation. Sometimes we climbed
to the top and then draw. Usually discuss life and stuff.
And Piedmont park is fun.
It had been 3 years since the last time I climbed Trey mountain in Helen.
Climbed it this new years day, and did it five years ago the first day
of 2000.

Glad you liked it.
I had a great time writing that story. My first of my 3 DD stories,
and my first work for Marvel.
My favorite bit was the Kingpin parts. Particulary the sort of Kingpin
origin stuff.
Glad you liked the ending too

Good point!
I should have said tha Wondercon is in San Francisco and is February
(18-20 I think).
Bendis will be there.
My first Bay area apearance in some time.
I used to be a guest there every year under the former management when
it was in Oakland.
This will be my first time since it moved to San fran.
I think 2001 was the last time I did it.
Really looking forward to seeing all my Bay area readers that I used
to see so often.

If there are any new or old members here that have questions about Kabuki throw them out here and I'll do my best to answer.
Same to new or old Kabuki readers.
