Happy Birthday Brian! Happy Chicag Bendis board!
Aug 16, 2004 9:21 am

I'm back and had the best Brian Birthday Chicago con bash ever.

It was good to see so many of you boarders at the show.
I had a great time when Brian and I stopped by to say hello at the Bendis Board party Saturday night. It was a lot of fun.
I enjoyed doing an Irish Jig/Riverdance, with my favorite Scottsman Mark Millar. So thanks for being a part of the magic!
Thanks for the Bendis board charades and pure mayhem.

I even got my daily excercise after standing at my booth all weekend

It was a delight to meet and re-meet all of you!

I'm sure I'll mention more later, but I just returned home and gots to get back to work. And should get a nap soon :)

Thanks for stopping by my table and saying hello and for the great feedback.
Best,
David

Re: Thank you Bendis Board!; naked girls; hangover; CHICAGO!

Good to see you Michael!

I meant to stop by your table and keep you company in your porn alley, but I just couldn't get time to leave my table.
I literally saw NOTHING at the con except for my own table and three trips to the men's bathroom. I never made it to another single booth cause there were so many cool readers and Bendis boarders visiting the Kabuki-Tanimals-ANdy Lee triptich.
Thanks all! It was great!!! Glad they visited your table and you sold so many of your books!
Everybody is a winner in the Bendis Olympics!

I'm glad you got the Anh Tran sexy stamp of approval
You have nothing to worry about. You are a fine looking man, very talented, and people like you!

I'm glad Diana shared her cookies! Diana's cookies were the only thing I ate all day Saturday!

Too busy at the con signing books.
So thanks Diana!

Michael,

Glad you got to learn Zen brush cleaning from Andy Lee in the bathroom!

You deserve it after solving his zen riddle of pornstars with coke on their backs.

Re: Pictures from Chi-Town??? I just got back!!!

Yo, Mary!
You and JD rocked the show!

Thanks for all your help. Including bringing me refreshing beverages to my table!
So sweet!

Your fan,
David

Re: Greetings from Russia
Aug 17, 2004 2:02 am

Travel safe and enjoy Russia in August!

Good to hear from you.

I had all my stuff stolen in France once. So I know the feeling of being in another country and owning nothing but the clothes on your back.
And that was in January and I was freezing in Paris.

But after a few days, I got most of my stuff back. Including my unpublished Kabuki scripts!
So don't lose hope and try to track it down!

Re: Mack are you coming to the St. Louis show in September?
Aug 17, 2004 5:50 am

I'd love to go, but because of my workload and publishing schedule, it isn't likely.

I mentioned to them that it looked like I would not be able to go, but they said to still keep it in mind in case i did meet all my work commitments in time, and in that case I could come at the last minute.

So... Unlikely, but not hopeless.
Andy Lee is definitely going. And I hear Steranko is to be there as well.

calling J.D Lombardi
Aug 18, 2004 1:50 am

JD,
I remember that you posted a letter here for a future Kabuki letters collumn.
But I can't find it here.
Are you able to repost it here for me?
Thanks,
David

I'm putting together some letters collumns right now and was going ot include it.
Anyone else is welcome too.

I have a letter from you in the collumn, so that may be it!

And your site is listed too

Re: What in the hell??? (Mack...?)
Aug 18, 2004 4:38 am

I laughed out loud when these photos loaded!

My favorite part is seeing Ivan Brandon and Andy MacDonald from NYC Mech laughing in the background. Ivan can be a serious guy, so If I get him to crack a laugh, I know I've done my job.

Ton of other pros in the back there too. That night was so fun. I totally got my excercise for the day

Sadly, alchohol was not a factor. I tend to go full force when I'm at a party after standing still at my table all day. It just usally isn't in the Hyatt lobby where someone challenged me to a dance-off

This was right after I did a little Irish River Dance with Mark Millar. Then the ballet and slow mo kung fu started and things got out of control

I just saw that site with the photos and the link to this "one man's account" story. Hilarious.

Mark,
It was a delight as always!

I was happy to dance and charade with you Saturday night. We were really doing God's work.

David

Re: Happy Birthday To ME!! and some Chicago love...
Aug 19, 2004 9:23 pm

Hey Ernie,
Happy Birthday!

Yours is really close to Bendis'.
Lots of August birthdays!
Brian's wife Alisa, and my girlfriend Anh have the same exact birthday, August 4.

Too bad you didn't find me at Chicago.
Next time!

Diana, thanks for picking up all the Kabuki!
When you get a chance to read Metamorphosis, please post your feedback.

You were a gem at the con!

And Tess gave me such a wonderful piece of artwork with her comics research paper

You are all amazing!

Michael Goddman's Akemi songs! This guy makes good music!
Aug 20, 2004 2:43 am

Hey, Michael,
Got your CD today and it was amazing! Anh got her stuff too and she loved it, and we listened to your CD in the car together. We were amazed at how good you are at singing, guitar, and songwriting.

I thought the lyrics were clever when I read them earlier, but set to music, it is very full of heart. Your voice sort of reminds me of Elvis Costello. You sing with a lot of genuine feeling.

You should make a whole set of Akemi songs (or other songs) and sell the CDs at your table at conventions, or in the back of your books! Maybe bring your guitar to sing em live at the table to show people how cool it is and they'ed be buying your CDs!

People will love your performances. We were impressed at how talented you are.

Those Akemi songs are incredible!

Put your favorite Akemi image from the comics as the cover and serve em up at cons from your table!

Love your lyrics and heartfelt sound

You got the mad love for Akemi.

You should the Akemi action figure and carry it around in your pocket

Feel free to cut out or copy an Akemi picture for your CDRs.

The one I thought of when I heard your songs was the one from pg 1 of #9 of Metamorphosis. Cause she sort of has that mysterious smile that you mention in your songs.

That image is on the backs of the Scarab and Akemi action figure packaging.

Re: Which comic/trades can you read over and over again?
Aug 20, 2004 7:41 am

Hey all,
Thanks for all those Kabuki mentions!

Re: Maleev draws a great Black Widow...
Aug 20, 2004 7:45 am

Maleev draws a great KABUKI!

What a good alternate cover!

And he did the cover art to the Kabuki Hero Clix which is amazing!
